The project commenced in July 2020, and will take place in stages. Work is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
The project will take place at the Andersons Bay Zone Substation, located on the corner of Somerville Street and Cranston Street.
What is the project?
Aurora Energy is upgrading the Andersons Bay Zone Substation, as the existing transformers and associated equipment have reached their end-of-life cycle and need to be replaced.
We are future-proofing the network and strengthening the electricity supply for customers in Andersons Bay and the Otago Peninsula by replacing the current transformers and ageing equipment, and building a new switch room.
We are pleased to share an artist impression of what the new zone substation will look like below.
Why is the upgrade needed?
This work will not only replace ageing equipment, but strengthen the electricity supply for customers in Andersons Bay and the Otago Peninsula.
Traffic management and bus stop relocation
Please be aware that traffic management will be in place when required. This work also requires a temporary move for the bus stop on Somerville Street. We are working with the Dunedin City Council and Otago Regional Council to coordinate this.
We thank the local community for their understanding and patience as we carry out this improvement work, and apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption that may be caused.
