Aurora Energy Signs Field Services Partner Contracts

11 December 2023
Aurora Energy has signed new field service agreements to ensure the Otago electricity lines company can deliver the remainder of their five-year, $563 million investment programme and, beyond this, to meet the future energy needs of the community.

“Following a robust procurement process that ensures best value for money, I’m pleased to welcome ElectroNet as a new network service provider alongside Delta and Unison. I am happy to announce that Asplundh will also provide vegetation services on the network, alongside Delta,” said Richard Starkey, Aurora Energy General Manager Service Delivery.

“We look forward to working with these skilled contractors, who all have the experience and dedication needed to upgrade and maintain our electricity networks in Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka and Queenstown Lakes. They will be able to deliver our programme in a way that is in the long-term interests of consumers.”

Richard Fletcher, Aurora Energy’s Chief Executive, said, “The electricity industry is going through a period of transition. Alongside traditional poles and lines, we are facing a new future where household generation through solar and batteries, the growing market for EVs, and increased electrification due to people wanting to reduce their carbon emissions mean we need to be more responsive to evolving customer needs. Our field service partners are well placed to help us deliver this”.

The contracts, with an initial term of four years, will take effect from 1 April 2024.
