Road Closures Along State Highway 1

Work to upgrade the electricity network along State Highway 1, from 51 Main South Road to 419 East Taieri-Allanton Road, means temporary road closures are needed every Tuesday and Thursday, from 23 January to Thursday 29 February 2024. Delays can be expected from 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Aurora Energy will be replacing 13 power poles, 104 crossarms, 4 km of power lines, one transformer, and one air break switch in the area from mid-January to the end of February. The programme has been scheduled to ensure there is no work taking place the week of Waitangi Day.

There will be an increase in the number of vehicles in the area and traffic management will be in place.

We ask that everyone please factor in additional travel time as road closures will be in effect for 20-minute intervals, to allow for the various traffic management sites. Please obey all traffic management signs and instructions.
