The Electricity Authority requires all electricity distributors to prepare a participant rolling outage plan in the event that a supply shortage is declared by the system operator of the national grid (Transpower), for example when a dry year causes a shortage of hydro generation.
Aurora Energy’s participant outage plan specifies the actions we would take to reduce the consumption of electricity, when directed by Transpower. We will always try our best to keep customers supplied. Reducing demand by disconnecting supply to customers would only ever be a last resort after all other forms of savings, including voluntary savings, had been employed.
