We own the electricity distribution network responsible for getting power to your property when you need it. In this section, you'll find everything you need to know about getting connected to our network. Whether it be houses, large industrial buildings, new subdivisions, permanent disconnections for demolition work, relocation of existing lines or connecting distributed generation – we can help.
Types of electricity connections
We call the process of getting a new connection 'Customer Initiated Work' (CIW). You’ll need to apply to connect to the Aurora Energy network if you want a new permanent connection to the network, a temporary connection to the network, to install any notifiable loads, to replace of all or part of the mains on your property or to connect solar or distributed generation to your property.
Connections to our Network fall into the following categories:
- Simple Connections – This is where a Point of Supply is available and no extensions, modifications or easements are required. We have improved the process for Simple Connections – check out our Information Pack for Customers (PDF).
- Standard Connections – This is where a Point of Supply is not always available and extensions, modifications or easements are required. We have improved the process for Standard Connections – check out our Information Pack for Customers (PDF).
- Strategic Connections – This is defined as a larger project, of strategic significance to Aurora Energy. Please contact the team at email@example.com to discuss your requirements.
- Distributed Generation Connections - If you're looking for information about solar/distributed generation for your home or business, you'll find that here too.
Approved Aurora Energy contractors can submit an application for a new connection on behalf of their customers via our CIW Portal.
