Road closures along State Highway 6

Aurora Energy will be replacing 50 power poles, 16 crossarms and repairing 4 power poles in the area from late November to early December. Some of the poles are located in complex locations and helicopters and cranes will be used to complete the work as safely as possible. 

There will be an increase in the number of vehicles in the area and traffic management will be in place from Maungawera to Lake Hāwea, through The Neck and up to Makarora.  

We ask that everyone please factor in additional travel time as road closures will be in effect for 20-minute intervals, to allow for the various traffic management sites. Please obey all traffic management signs and instructions. 

Please be aware there will also be helicopter activity in the area during this time.
