Update 1 - Dunedin Flooding: 3 June 2015, 4:00pm

03 June 2015
Urgent disconnection of power supply to East Taieri consumers due to flooding.

Aurora Energy advises that due to surface flooding and in the interests of public safety, we will soon disconnect electricity supply to the Woodland Avenue, Kinmont Crescent, Boundary Road and Heathfield Drive in East Taieri. Power to the 150 electricity consumers affected will remain out until water subsides and power can be safely restored. Surface flooding is submerging ground-mounted electrical equipment.

To urgently isolate the affected streets, we will temporarily disconnect one feeders supplying East Taieri. There will be a short interruption to power for 517 consumers while we complete switching, after which power will be restored.

Always treat all electricity lines and equipment as live at all times and keep well clear. Please call your electricity retailer’s faults number, to report problems with your supply.

Heavy rain continues and Aurora Energy anticipates that further urgent disconnections of power supply in Dunedin may be required in the interests of public safety. Dunedin electricity consumers should be prepared in the event of power outages.

We apologise for the inconvenience to affected electricity consumers as we take these necessary steps to ensure the safety of the public.
