15 August 2016
Winners of the 2016 Aurora Energy Otago Science and Technology Fair were announced yesterday. The Aurora Energy Premier Award for Best in Fair went to Aaron Nelson for his project on a robotic automatic table setter.

Aurora Energy is proud to have been the primary sponsor of the event for the past twelve years.

The Fair encourages students from throughout Otago to expand their scientific and technological thinking to produce projects of a high standard.

The 2016 Aurora Energy Otago Science and Technology Fair featured an array of talented young scientists. The Fair ran from 8-14 August at the Otago Museum, and the prize-giving was held at the St David Lecture Theatre on the afternoon of the 14th.

Aurora Energy chief executive, Grady Cameron, says he is proud to sponsor the Otago Science and Technology Fair for another year.

“As the local electricity network, we are delighted to provide opportunities for our youth to experiment with science and to be recognised for doing so. We continue to be very impressed with the talent and passion of Otago’s young students for science and technology.”

Aurora Energy’s contribution has gone towards the Premier Award for Best in Fair and other notable entries, as well as the operation of the Fair.

“Every year, organisers put a lot of effort into making sure the Fair is a great success and we are happy to support them to put on this wonderful event for the community” says Grady.

314 students from 24 schools around the Otago region, took part in the 2016 Fair.
