Updates on power outages on the Aurora Energy network in Dunedin and Central Otago.
Dunedin Power Outages - 25 May 2015, 14:00h

The current status of power outages on the Aurora Energy network in Dunedin following a lightning storm and wind overnight is:

  • (New outage) Power is out to around 20 consumers in Broad Bay. Delta crews are onsite and repairs are underway.
  • Power will be restored to Cavell Street, Musselburgh later today once a temporary generator has been installed. The cause was lightning damage to transformers.
  • Power is now restored to Rawhiti and Gresham Streets, Musselburgh with temporary generators installed. The cause was lightning damage to transformers.
  • Power is now restored to Weir Road to Taiaroa Head on the Otago Peninsula. The cause was severe wind downing an overhead power line.
  • Power is now restored to all consumers in the Port Chalmers area after overhead power lines were downed.

In total, since 8:00pm last night there have been weather-related power outages, mostly short duration, affecting around 3,400 Dunedin consumers. Power has been restored to all except 140 consumers.

Delta crews are responding to faults and are making repairs as soon as is safely possible. Please report faults to your electricity retailer via their faults number. Severe weather conditions continue and consumers should be prepared in the event of further power outages. Queenstown and Central Otago Power Outages - 25 May 2015, 14:00h

The current status of power outages on the Aurora Energy network in Central Otago following heavy snow is:

  • Power is now restored to all consumers in Central Otago, except for 20 consumers between Cromwell and Queensberry. Delta crews are making repairs and power will be restored to those remaining consumers as soon as repairs are complete and power can be safely restored.

In total, since 8:00pm last night there have been weather-related power outages, mostly short duration, affecting around 4,700 Central Otago consumers. Power has been restored to all except 20 consumers.

Delta crews are responding to faults and are making repairs as soon as is safely possible. Please report faults to your electricity retailer via their faults number. Severe weather conditions continue and consumers should be prepared in the event of further power outages.
